Poppy Fields

Today Lee and I went to the 'big city' down to Birmingham just under a hour away from here. The main purpose of the visit was to buy Lee a new wedding ring as he has 'lost' his last two. The last one somewhere in the car innards that even the garage manager cannot find. So we went down to our main jewelry quarter in England in Birmingham near to us and bought him a new one. I had it resized downwards a touch so this one might not slip off and if it does I will make him wear one through his nose :-)

It was a lovely sunny day today in most of the UK so en route back we had to stop for Lee to take some pictures for work for a new railway station they are planning to manage while being built. So lots of usual bus and train station pics from Lee ! But while I was sitting in the car to the back of me I saw this lovely poppy field so when he got back I nicked the camera off him and took a few pics. Hope you like them. Make sure you all have a great time this weekend and if you're in the UK enjoy the sun as we know it might not last :-) Hugs Jan xxx

6th-school-year-finishing party!

Hello everyone! On Friday evening I wasn't on Poly because I was off to the 6th-school-year-finishing party/trip/picnic together will all classmates and parents! It was such a fun - even though all the time it was raining, we had lots of things to do, it was brilliant, so I'm showing you the photos - I can be seen with the yellowish/green jacket below ;] We were playing sports, sitting by the lake, some of the classmates ever started the water wars after some time!
Kisses,
Monika

"Simply Saralee's" Sweet Little Princess

"Gabriella the Princess of York"
Sharing my sweet little princess with all of you! This is "Gabriella the Princess of York!" Better known as "Gabby!" This little girl is truly the heartbeat at my feet! It took me 9 long years to talk my hub into letting me get her, but the wait was worth it! The hub loves her to death! He waits on her hand and paw! He even brings her breakfast in bed every morning! SPOILED!!
Besides loving her to death she is very special to me because she was entrusted to me by my cousin Cathy Lou. Cathy Lou is one of the sweetest people on earth and is ill with "Scleraderma" and "Parkinson's" all at the age of 57. I'm not sure if any of you know what scleraderm is. It is dreadful! Your skin and organs petrify turning hard as stone. This dear sweet one never ever complains. She always has a smile and a sweet word for everyone! I am blessed to have her dog "Tilly's" one and only puppy!
Wishing you all a beautiful sunshiny day!

Pets - Angel_Emz95

Jan, you said you wanted pictures of pets... I don't have any myself, as my dad is allergic :( But here's a picture of Milly, the cat from next door. She might as well be ours as she practically lives round at our house anyway!

Sorry... I know it's not the greatest picture!! But she would NOT stay still... why is it that cats are still as statues right until you want to take a picture of them, and THEN they choose to start licking themselves!!! Oh well...

Love, Em XOXOXO

Me and my friends in the queue for the Eiffel Tower! (Clockwise from top: Fi, Ellie, Emma, Me, Adam, Dom)

Feeding the birds in the gardens of the Louvre!

The Arc de Triomph ( it was difficult to photograph because buses kept driving in the way!)

La Tour Eiffel, naturalement...

Notre Dame (unfortunately, it was closed, so we didn't get to go inside.)

The fountain in the Louvre gardens.
I missed you all very much!!! And I'm sorry it took my so long to do this post.
Unfortunately... I caught an infection from my sister, so now I'm ill :(
It's only flu really, but with my hayfever as well it's not pleasant!
Love, Em XOXOXO

Blog for the PPB Group

Hi Girls

Just to let you know for those of you who are members, I have started a picture board blog and will be featuring PPBs from the Polyvore Group - winners and other featured sets.

I will be putting on some of my picture boards on the blog before they go onto Polyvore and also some that are made off Polyvore from my own photographs that may not feature on Poly - so it may be worth it to check it out for different PPBs or to see if you have been featured.

The rain has cleared - jangold

Hi girls

The rain has cleared at last after over week of very nasty storms. I have had to go out daily and empty about 1/2 inch of water out of each of my planters.

The handbag planters will now need some encouragement and good weather as some leaves started to rot.

But at last it is here and I believe is going to stay for the weekend at last. Unfortunately, I have another book chapter to write by the end of next week - then again as I have electricity inside and outside the Summer house - I may just plug in and carry on in the garden.

Hope you are all having a great Thursday - one more day 'til the weekend starts.

Hugs Jan xxx

Near my house. Polixena

This park is close to my house... two minutes walking or so. It´s a very big park (67.230 m2) wich is filled with wonderful trees and plants and lots of sculptures.

It´s in the middle of the city and its creation started around 1920, part of the money that the townhall used to create it was donated by the citizens.

It´s a very peaceful place, where you can read, rest or just have a sun bath. I try to go there at least once a week, it´s such a pleasant experience to stay there for a while.

Have a nice day, hugs, X. xxxx

My Cat, Miss

Jan is working on her poster of our pets.
She has photos of my other two cats,
Steve and Neen.
Here's number three: Miss

She is a Balinese (persian)
and really pretty,
but to be honest she is kind of dumb
and a little bit clumsy!

She is very much in love with her family.
When any of us are sick or sad, she KNOWS
and will not leave us until we are better.

A good read to put you to sleep ! - jangold

Hi girls - I'm SO excited I just had to share this with you. All last year I was writing a chapter on crime at work for a criminology book edited by four other people. Anyway, this week I discovered to my dismay that I had been missed off the pre-publication list - now as an academic that is bad as we do not write for money (30 dollars in this case and one free book (don't read it all at once !)) but to get us known for our subject. For me, although I have had a few articles published this was my first book chapter - so was particulary important for me. Anyway, today when I was about to ring up the publishers to complain I spotted the online shop where the book is now featured to pre-order and they had added my name !! So one, I'm relieved and two, I'm over the moon I'm in print at last !! Hugs Jan xxx

Start of the new stories...by Ann

Some of you knows me from the GGG stories I did/do on PV, since we not really doing tours with the Goddesses anymore I started yesterday to continue the story line. Its all complete silliness but a lot of fun to do. As a movie addict I use my fav actors in my stories and because today is my Bon Bon's (Johnny) birthday I going to celebrate that with him of course ;))))

A little info for those who don't know the stories: Why I chose JD in a leading role...because there are zillion of pictures of him and thats very useful for the stories. And why do I call him Bon Bon, that is because he plays Bon Bon (a transvestite) in the movie Before Night Falls.

Meet my sweethearts...by Ann

Here are my sweethearts. At the top is Daantje, she is almost 3 years old now and the big one is Gekkenhuis (Lunatic) he is 12 years old. Daantje is the boss from day one she entered the house :D She has no fears, not even for water. Before I had them I had two other cats Bobbie, a huge black cat and Pukje, who was very small and looked a lot like Daantje, but had a totally different character, she was afraid of everything. They both passed away...at 18 and 11.

Queen MalĂș and Sweet Miel. PoliXena

My cats have heard that Jangold is going to make a poster so they have insisted on being the major figures of this entry, I´ve been all day long working and I´m too tired to deny it.

So here they are: both female, 12 years old, happy to be alive, leading authorities on ephemeral pleasures, compulsive players, experts on seize the moment and owners of my house and my heart ;)

Have a nice week my friends,

Hugs, X. xxxx

Let's talk toilets - jangold

Hi girls - you probably think I've gone completely mad now. Well I thought I'd share these photos I took last November and a little story with you. Some of you may have heard of Friedrich Hundertwasser - an artist, architect and ecologist. Born in Austria 1928, he moved to New Zealand in the 1970s where he died in Feb 2000. Known for his bold and bizarre designs the Kawakawa Toilets (as pictured) were the last project he completed before he died. Kawakawa is located in the northern part of the North island of New Zealand in the Bay of Islands area. I have been fortunate to visit ths area twice and last time paid a visit (no pun intended !!) to these famous toilets. All locally sourced materials were used to build these toilets including those made by local students, including ceramics and glass. This has raised the profile of the small town of Kawakawa and there are on-going and further plans to make it an art-related town. Hugs Jan PS click on picture for a more detailed look at the pics

Pet poster - jangold

In the next few weeks I will be putting together one of our 'specialist' topic posters (along with our normal monthly events ones).

Therefore, if you have not posted details of your pets and would like to - or post more pictures to the ones you have already - please do so in the next couple of weeks.

If you don't want your pet to feature in the poster or want a certain picture to - then just leave a message here or PM me via Polyvore. I will make the poster big enough to feature all.

Hope you all liked the May poster and are looking foward to some specialist ones - suggestions welcome of course. Jan xxx

Crowing about the weather (like a Brit) - jangold

Hi girls

Well after a long stretch of Summer weather (that's just under a week in Brit speak), today was awful - very cold and the rain was very heavy.

I took this photo of two crows sheltering on a telegraph wire opposite our house - trying to get under the tiles of a house opposite - even they did not look amused.

Worst still as I was taking it I could hear the church bells at church at the bottom of the town, meaning there was a wedding. The poor bride to be must have been devasted having had a lovely weekend last week and a few good days in the week. But on the flipside it gave me plenty of time to do some much needed tidying and work inside. I'm sure Summer will arrive properly soon - it's just knowing when ! Hope you are all having a great weekend wherever you are. Hugs Jan xxx

Sisters and Friends. PoliXena

I was thinking these morning about nature of sisterhood (and friendship and partnership) and also about the meaning of being together. My mind was making a very judicious speech when I take notice of my cats... as many others times they gave me the right answer: being together is breathe together, lie together, enjoy (and appreciate) the little things together... when two hearts beat at the same time there can´t be any problem.

In short, life is too brief to be complicated. Enjoy the day dear friends, take care and be happy. X. xxxx PS These are MalĂș and Miel my wise (yet uncomplicated) cats having a break, aren´t they sweet?

Collage - Farfalla13

Hello everyone! I decided to show you my collage in process. I started with it last night and I'm still far away to finish. This project I'm doing for my 2-D Design class. I never really made any collages before and I never really liked any of them 2. When i started to work with this one i started to like them. I really like the texture on this one. The foto above is the whole collage (by the way its my green walls in my room :)) and on the left is close up. This project is due on thursday, so by that time i will try to post finished collage. HUggs, Farfalla

Santa Claus In The Spring

Here is a favorite little corner of my garden.
The clematis vine (left) is Nelly Moser. She's in full bloom now.
On the shelf are a collection of peony and clematis flowers.
That little garland of Santas is part of my folk art collection.
I keep my Santas out all year. My husband thinks I am crazy.
Why should we hide Santa away for 50 weeks of the year
and not have his jolly presence?! - love, Gwyn

Flower handbags - jangold

These are the flower handbags I mentioned the other day. On Monday I just couldn't resist going back to the garden centre where I first saw them and as I couldn't decide on which one I bought them both as they were just under 10$ each. BUT then I saw some beautiful little decorated pails and had to buy them too. Same problem - four design - but which one? Ok you guessed it - one of each. So then I ended up with two handbags, four pails, more compost and more flowers of course to fill them. I'll take some pics of the pails tomorrow if the weather is good. I am amazed at the details on the handbags (click to make bigger and see) and they are crafted on the back as well - lots of fake stitching and the 'metalwork' of the bags has been painted gold and silver. Anyway, they are now sitting on a post waiting for Lee to find long/strong nails to hammer in and hang them properly. Clouds are movinig in here fast but I hear the weekend is going to be good again. Happy Tuesday to you all Jan

My way to school

Hi, girls!
I have realized I had promised to show you pictures of my school, etc. and I haven't done it yet! So - I want to share with you with what I see everyday... In the first picture you can see my halfway to school (you can't see the school in the picture, but it's very near), and in the third you can see me :) Today is the first day of summer so I feel absolutely amazing!

Monika

May 2009 Poly Girls Poster - jangold

Hi girls - happy SYM and 1st of June.

On the 1st of each month I am going to upload our own Poly Girls Club poster for the month just gone. Hopefully, if you click on it, it will be large enough for you to print out on A4 paper and keep in your office of by your computer.

Obviously there are limited (12) spaces for each month so please do not feel disappointed if you have not got a photo featured this month - I will try to include on in future months. I only include those photos that are your own. I have made this myself and therefore no photos have gone onto Polyvore.

I try to catch the essence of what we've been talking about this month - so May's poster focuses a lot on introductions, places and gardens. Besides the monthly poster, I will also be collecting pics to make specialised posters such as 'food', 'flowers', 'crafts etc so you will see you pictures there.

I hope you all like this idea, I spotted that the two women in 3191 miles apart do limited edition posters, so thought we could have our own to share between us. Happy Monday Hugs Jan

My nails - ♥petaliferous♥

Hi Girls, after a few of you posted photos of your nails, I thought I'd do the same. Its not a brilliant shot (apologies if it looks like I'm clawing at you! but it was hard to fit in the whole hand otherwise!). Anyway this is a new nail colour of mine, and I am absolutely in L♥VE with it. It is such a hot colour, and has heaps of glitter so it actually lasts a while! I am obsessed with my nails. They're relatively short at the moment. I give them a good trim every now and then to keep them nice and healthy. By the way (not that I am in any way an expert) but the best nourishment I've found is Vitamin E capsules (prick one with a pin) and use the oil on your cuticles!

Big Ben - jangold

One of London's most famous attractions, Big Ben, is celebrating its 150th anniversary. Technically Big Ben refers only to the clock's largest bell, but has become synonymous with the clock tower itself.

The bell, cast in Whitechapel on 10 April 1858, was first rung in the Great Westminster Clock on 31 May 1859. The clock tower and the new Palace of Westminster, designed by Charles Barry, were built after a fire destroyed much of the old Houses of Parliament in 1834.

Snow In Spring - Photoshop Fun by Gwyneth

Two of my favorite hobbies are photography and using Photoshop. In order to pursue this activity, I end up taking a lot of self portraits. This is not from vanity but sheer necessity! Nobody else will model for me!!!! My husband HATES getting his photo taken and my kids are teenagers and won't pose either. So this photo was taken with self timer in March when my crocus flowers were blooming. You can see them in the top of the photo. I played with the picture in Photoshop and made it snow in spring. Fun!! Hugs, Gwyn
