Ann and the City

Friday I was out for the day with my best friend Miriam, picking up her wedding dress at a shop at the other side of the country. It was beautiful weather and we lunched outside...and it reminds us of 2 years ago when we were on a shopping trip and had lunch outside too and that day we decided to go to New York for a week in 2008...so we did last year in June just after the heat wave...it was still hot and humid...a weather I like because I have it cold most of the time. It was my first visit to NY (Mir's second) and I fell in love instantly with the city...I took tons of pics and I watch them every day because they are on my Mac as screen saver ;)

We will go back there...(probably next year) because there is so much more to see and to do. Last time we went to a concert of R.E.M. at Madison Square Garden which was fabulous! When we were in NY we just missed Keanu by a couple of days...he left NY just before we came...so next time I hope he will wait for us ;))))

Today I polished my nails for the first time in a long while...I hate the smell of nail polish...although I always polish my toe nails (fire red) I hardly ever polish my finger nails, also because I don't have such a great shaped finger nails. The name of the color is Diabolo Grenade from Dior and there is a touch of glitter in it. My hand looks like a zebra in the pic :D

My weekend. PoliXena

Morning dear friends, sorry for the lack of entries but I´ve been very busy lately. I´m at my Mom´s house, I came here to attend my niece´s wedding... it has been a wonderful weekend, I had the chance to meet most of my family members and other relatives, talk, dance and so on.






















They celebrated it in a gorgeous place, here are some photos of the landscape around us and the bride looking at it, obviously she is pregnant ;)

I´m so happy for her!... she is deeply in love and happily waiting for her baby girl. Tonight I´ll travel back home, I live 50 minutes (flying) from here.

Dandelions and weeds

Morning girls.

Well I've woken up to the most sunny day yet in the UK - clear blue skies - pretty unheard of.

Today is a special day as we are taking my Mum for lunch at a local pub/restaurant, then we are going to the local garden centre to pick up plants.

As the weather has been so bad I have not been able to get out in the garden much at all this year so it is overrun with weeds and dandelions. However, I thought this one looked so beautiful so I took a close up picture for the blog.

Interesting Pets by ♥petaliferous♥

Hey All. You've all seen my puppy, but here are some other pets I have. They're called Australian Spiny Leaf Insects (also known as Macleay's Sceptre Insect). We have three of them, Twiggy, Sceptre and Leela. They eat gum leaves, and are very easy to look after. They don't bite or hurt you in any way, but apparently they are often used in movies in place of scorpians as they can look a tad creepy! I admit they're not everyones ideal pet, but I like them. They're an interesting addition to our menagerie!!

Of time spent and turtles - jangold

Beautiful day here in this part of the UK for the first time really this year. So I managed to take a few photos outside. This is one bush - but I do not know the name ?? Gwyn - anyone do you know ??

We spent most of the day in Nottingham about an hour from where we live and Lee's parental home. Good to see my father-in-law who always has some kind of craft idea or item to give me.

Today it was Kilner jars which I am going to paint in different colours - wire up and use as outdoor lanters with tea lights.

We had a lovely lunch down by a lake and fed the geese and ducks.

Blooming Today In The Garden - Alliums & Iris!

I love alliums! They are flowering onions.
Large purple globes are popping open all over my garden. With them are blue flag iris!

My white rose

I love roses in any color. This white rose seems to thrive in my garden no matter what the weather condition. There are several rose buds waiting to bloom, but this one opened up yesterday.

My Mom's got golden hands

Hello, girls,
Sorry for not coming here so often :S This time I wanted to share with you my unique vests my Mom has knitted me. I have a full wardrobe with them! My every classmate knows that my style always ends up with a colourful vest or sweater knitted by my Mum. I've started knitting, too and someday I want to be as good as her ;] (you can see the vests in the second photo)
And in the first photo I designed an outfit together with my favourite vest!

Why i have'nt done any sets lately.

Hello Girls! I have been very busy cleaning my sewing/crafts room. I'd love to be making sets and enjoying the beauty of your sets, but life has just been crazy lately. My daughters have trimester exams in school (one in second, one in fifth grade), and i'm usually helping them with homework. I hope you all have a great weekend! Love, Brendasue

More of my little town

This is an artist's picture of the restaurant I went to today - it is very well composed and very accurate. You can see from this even, that there was a little part and then the two windowed old paint shop. I love the detail this girl puts in - even the owners car at the front and of course the cat on the roof ! The shop next door deals with violins and you can even see the guy's (another old school pal) notice outside. Anyway just thought you would like to see more of my little town. The Garden Today - First Lettuce by Gwyneth

Here we have the first lettuce in our garden. This is called "Monet Mix."
Not only does it make delicious salads, they are also very pretty because
all the lettuces are different colors!

Normandy and Brittany - Monypussy

I want to show you some pics of my last summer. My boyfriend and I drove to Normandy and Brittany: we covered about 4000 km in 2 weeks! It has been the best holiday of my life: I really like holidays "on the road": I'm already pushing to have another one like that this year, eh eh! And the places were so beautiful...wow, I would like to be there right now!!!

Here I was in Etretat: its cliffs are breathtaking!!










Omaha Beach in the early morning: it's so calm today. But a few miles away the military cemetery remembers us what happened here in 1944.

Ladies that lunch - jangold

Morning girls. I have a busy but lovely day ahead as I am meeting my friend Kerry for lunch at our favourite restaurant in town called Granvilles. I took this picture of the outside of it last Summer. The restaurant is very special to me as it is owned by an old school pal and he bought a little coffee shop first just after he left school and turned it into quite a famous jazz place. Then he bought the larger shop next door, which had previously been a paint/DIY shop, and knocked the two into one as quite a substantial property. As a child, I spent a lot of time in this paint shop as my Father was a painter and decorator and I used to go with him to get his paint and things and as a trades person he spent most of his time in the stockroom at the back, which now forms the bulk of the restaurant. So this place has very special memories for me and although my Father died 15 years ago, I always think he is with me when I am there especially and remember the times I spent as a young child in the back of the shop with him. When Lee and I got married abroad we had our 'pre wedding' luncheon reception here also - so it has double special memories. I hope the sun shines through and Kerry and I have a great time. Brazilian Waste - By Cris

This is a saline in a State named Rio Grande do Norte, the Capital of RGN is Natal.

I gone there in 2007 at work.

The white in the photo is salt.

This is a brazilian waste, on Rio Grande do Norte´s countryside. It´s not a normal place to go, because it´s so far from any big city.

I feel grateful for having been able to go there.

I decided to share with you these photos, because there are few Brazilians who have photos from there.

This is my niece´s son. My sister is his grandmother, my mother is his great-grandmother... this turns me into his great-aunt. (!)

When my niece (his mother) was a girl -she is seven years younger than me- she used to come to my mom´s house to draw and make collages with me.

Now, when I come back to my mom´s house, she comes with her boy and he draws and makes collages with me.





He is three years old and everytime he visits my mother and he finds me there his smiles is radiant: he just loves drawing, and I love him.

StarlessArtemis: China

Back in summer 2007, I went all over China (ten different cities) with my mother and younger sister. After We spent our longest time in Guangzhou and Hong Kong. The best thing there was the food which I sorely miss! No Chinese food in America can compare (I felt so spoiled after returning back to the US). Everything there is made fresh and delicious! Next was the immense amount of history there ranging back thousands of year and seeing all my relatives there. However, seeing the poverty and pollution also made me feel sad too. I even had my new camera stolen while shopping some busy street (lesson: don't wear backpacks and keep your purse in front!). But I want to return again. Next time, I want to explore the mountains there and spend a tad more time shopping in Hong Kong =)

Everyday garden - jangold

At long last there is some sun here though clouding over already. But I got up early and popped out to take some photos. The Summer House shed roof must be on a rota for the local cats - though a double booking today with both a ginger cat and black cat occupying the space ! I dare not take a photo or they would run. This picture is one corner of our garden with a new bench we put up last Summer but never got chance to use. I read in the news that we are in for a massive heatwave and the Government are recommending us to paint our houses white on the outside - then again who would believe a British MP at the moment :-) Hugs Jan xxx

The Grampians

Hi Ladies. Thought I'd show you some photos

of a recent camping trip my husband and I took to a place called the Grampians National Park in Victoria, Australia, approximately 4 hrs drive from where I live in Melbourne. Its so rugged and beautiful and is home to many species of plants that grow nowhere else.

In my garden - Imgreatgal

That's my 'little garden'. Because of the climate here I do not have Apples Blossoms like GwynM and Azaleas like Suzanne4...(I envy you gals) there are lots of greenery here. There is a little pond with tiny fishes (The fishes are there to keep mosquitoes from breeding) near the Giant Caladium. I like to hear the water flowing..it's so therapeutic.

On the roof is this creeper plant, Vallaris Glabra, it has a very sweet smell. Near the pillar on the left there is a white rose plant and a yellow orchid which will bloom anytime. I will take a pic and post it here then.

An Angel for you

This one is my favorite, I´ve bought on a trip to Minas Gerais, a countryside State of Brazil.
