Our Victorian House - jangold

Lee and I live in an old Victorian house. You can see the sign that sits between ours and next door where the row of 4 houses is called Coronation Cottages. These 4 hours were built in 1902 and before. They are called Coronation Cottages because in 1902 Edward VII had his coronation after Queen Victoria died in 1901. The coronation however, was originally delayed due to the King having an appendicitus the day before the planned coronation. In those days I believe houses like ours were built together, the 1st being completed and then the family of the builder moving in there whilst the 2nd was built. The family moved again and the 3rd was started. Although they look the same from the outside it was a tradition to change individual characteristics inside. The 1911 census has now been released so I am going to see (with the 1901 census) who lived in these houses and what they did. Hope you enjoy the history from my little part of the world. Jan

Outside and Inside. PoliXena

I live in front of a lovely -not too big- square wich is very nice. I have a great view of it from my living-room and also from my terrace. It´s quite old and there are only ten buildings or so around it, one of them is mine.

I live on the second floor and I can almost touch the wonderful tree wich grows up there. (In fact, there are three: one on my side and two on the opposite side)

It is a big -and strong- Indian Laurel and it´s really beautiful. It´s such a pleasure to rise the blinds and look at it and hear all the tiny birds wich live there... and the light is fantastic. Have a nice day, X. xxxx

Japanese Crafting Magazine

Just wanted to show MingMing the magazine where i got the pattern for my bag from. Winter is just starting here in South America. I just gets down to -2 Celsius here, but its to cold to go around the house in flip-flips, so i wear woolen slippers.

My treasures...Ann

Hi girls...I would like to show you some of my treasures...I have a few small cupboards in my room and I put memorabilia on them.

On this one there are memorabilia from my family...the picture in front is my dad when he was a little boy...its very special to me because he died almost 7 years ago. There are also his glasses from the time he was a teenager.

There is a pocketknife from my granddad, very old jewelry from both my grandmothers and the little christmas sheep also from my grandmother...it hardly has any fur left.

The buddha is a lighter from my granddad and at the back there is his royal medal of honor. Also a very thin and small Japanese screen to put around a tea light and the pic in the back is my mom at age 18 reading a book :) The little doll which is hanging at the pic I brought home from a trip to Romania.

The two white stone pipes I used to blow bubbles with them when I was a little girl (a looooooooooooooong time ago ;) )

I moved a lot of times but these are the first things I unpack and put in place...after I've done that I feel at home.

Crafts

Hello everybody online today! I just looked at Cris's crafted jewelry, and i love it. So i decided to show some of my crafts. I love to sew, not only clothing, but patchwork quilts too. So the first pic is a mini quilted wall hanging. It's only 18 x 21 inches. (Very tiny pieces of material in there!) The second pic is a handbag i've sewn. The pattern was in a japanese magazine, but it had wonderful diagrams to work with, as i don't read or speak japanese. You might not be able to see it, but it has a little owl dangling on a leather cord.
The last picture is of slippers that i knit. Even in Paraguay it gets cold in winter, and the tile floors chilly, so i like to knit these and give them as birthday presents. Have a great crafty week! By Brendasue

Do you want this? --- MingMing

Yum!! This is the dessert I had at a cafe on Sunday.
French Toast + berries + Vanilla icecream on the plate.
I usually don't eat those sweet dessert, but this is one of an exception.

Oh, Now I'll show you my angel, Cris.

You've collected angels, so this is the one I wanted to show you:)

My mom bought it when we went to Hawaii.

She is holding a pineapple. Isn't it cute?

Morning Girls - here's a picture of me as Frenchie one of the Pink Ladies from Grease at a fancy dress party on Sunday.

Sandy kindly agreed to pose for the picture as well - I think she is a real natural for the part - whereas hardly anything is natural about me !

Oh well that's a beauty school drop out for you !

Hope you're all having a great week !

My jewrelry - Cris

I make jewrelry, for many years I sold for friends and stores.
Bracelets are my favorite piece, this is in cristal.

This one is in strass and beads.... ... and this is in wood.

I´m thinking in re doing, because it is one thing that relaxes me a lot.

Everyday objects - Trinket boxes

I've just started a collection of trinket boxes...and these are some of them. Actually I don't buy them, they were gifts from friends and relatives from their travels. ~ imgreatgal

Spoil Yourself Monday

Today is our day to buy a little treat or do something nice for ourselves. I was going to have pancakes and whipped cream but just never got around to making them. Instead, I bought these 3 little painted watering cans from the dollar store. They were only $2 each so it was NOT a huge expense. They make me so happy when I look out of my kitchen window and see the bright colors and cheerful little decorations. ! - gwyneth

The way the collages are done back home. PoliXena

These are some photos of the wall of my mother´s bedroom. She has made a sort of collage using some of the cards that we (her closest family and friends) have sent her during last years.

Actually, it´s a work in progress because she continues adding things. There are Christmas cards, birthday cards, some photos, cards from our travels, tiny gifts etc.

She started years ago with a few pieces but now she has covered almost the whole wall. She is 84 years old (I´m her youngest daughter, and I have for sisters and two brothers much older than me) and she has always done things like this... she has a nice creative energy, I hope it lasts many years more. Have a nice week dear friends. Good night X. xxxx

Mosaics by ♥petaliferous♥

Hi Ladies. First of all, I am addicted to this blog!
Secondly, since I did a polyvore picture board set on mosaic art, (http://www.polyvore.com/ppb_mosaic_art/set?id=8932117) I thought I'd share with you some mosaic creations I've made. In order of pics, a pot, picture frame (with my wedding photo!) jewellery box and table. The succulents in the pot were from my bridal bouquet so they're extra special also. I haven't done any projects for a while, but hope to start a bird bath soon... Enjoy :) Bri xoxo (♥petaliferous♥)

Everyday objects - Cris

Hello dear friends!
This is my favorite corner of my room.
Every Saturday I buy flowers for my little vase.
This week I bought one of my favorites flowers, to show to you.
Many many kisses. Cris

Ann and the City

Friday I was out for the day with my best friend Miriam, picking up her wedding dress at a shop at the other side of the country. It was beautiful weather and we lunched outside...and it reminds us of 2 years ago when we were on a shopping trip and had lunch outside too and that day we decided to go to New York for a week in 2008...so we did last year in June just after the heat wave...it was still hot and humid...a weather I like because I have it cold most of the time. It was my first visit to NY (Mir's second) and I fell in love instantly with the city...I took tons of pics and I watch them every day because they are on my Mac as screen saver ;)

We will go back there...(probably next year) because there is so much more to see and to do. Last time we went to a concert of R.E.M. at Madison Square Garden which was fabulous! When we were in NY we just missed Keanu by a couple of days...he left NY just before we came...so next time I hope he will wait for us ;))))

Nail me...Ann

Today I polished my nails for the first time in a long while...I hate the smell of nail polish...although I always polish my toe nails (fire red) I hardly ever polish my finger nails, also because I don't have such a great shaped finger nails. The name of the color is Diabolo Grenade from Dior and there is a touch of glitter in it. My hand looks like a zebra in the pic :D

My weekend. PoliXena

Morning dear friends, sorry for the lack of entries but I´ve been very busy lately. I´m at my Mom´s house, I came here to attend my niece´s wedding... it has been a wonderful weekend, I had the chance to meet most of my family members and other relatives, talk, dance and so on.

They celebrated it in a gorgeous place, here are some photos of the landscape around us and the bride looking at it, obviously she is pregnant ;)

I´m so happy for her!... she is deeply in love and happily waiting for her baby girl. Tonight I´ll travel back home, I live 50 minutes (flying) from here.

Happy Sunday. Hugs! X. xx

Dandelions and weeds

Morning girls.

Well I've woken up to the most sunny day yet in the UK - clear blue skies - pretty unheard of.

Today is a special day as we are taking my Mum for lunch at a local pub/restaurant, then we are going to the local garden centre to pick up plants.

As the weather has been so bad I have not been able to get out in the garden much at all this year so it is overrun with weeds and dandelions. However, I thought this one looked so beautiful so I took a close up picture for the blog.

Have a happy Whit Sunday girls.

Hugs Jan
